Finding Purpose by Returning to Myself

For a long time, I thought I was trying to find my purpose.

I looked at the different parts of my life and wondered what I was meant to be doing, where I was meant to be going, and what my life was supposed to become.

But the more I returned to myself, the more I began to see something I hadn’t understood before.

Maybe my purpose was never something I needed to find outside of myself.

Maybe it was simply to reconnect with my soul.

Coming Back to Myself

There was a part of me underneath everything I had learned to be.

Underneath the expectations.
Underneath the roles.
Underneath the need to be understood.
Underneath the ways I had adapted myself to fit into a life that didn’t always feel like mine.

There was still me.

And the journey back to myself has been about becoming quiet enough to hear her again.

Not creating a new version of myself.

Remembering the one who was already there.

The more connected I became to myself, the less interested I became in figuring out who I was supposed to be.

I simply began noticing what felt true.

What felt good.

What felt like freedom.

What felt like me.

Living From What Is True

Something changes when I stop trying to create a life that looks right and begin living a life that feels right to me.

I make different choices.

I see my home differently.

I experience ordinary moments differently.

I allow myself to enjoy the things I enjoy without needing a reason for them.

I no longer feel the same need to explain myself.

There is a quietness that comes with living from within rather than constantly looking outside of myself for confirmation.

And I’ve realized that this is what it means for me to live as my true self.

It isn’t a performance.

It isn’t another identity I have to maintain.

It is simply the experience of being at home within myself.

The Life I Love

And perhaps this is the part I understand most clearly now.

The life I love isn’t separate from me.

It isn’t something waiting somewhere in the future for me to finally arrive.

It is created through the way I live now.

Through the things I choose.

The spaces I create.

The moments I allow myself to experience.

The freedom I give myself to be who I am.

The way I spend an ordinary afternoon.

The quiet.

The beauty.

The creativity.

The pleasure of being in my own company.

All of it becomes an expression of what is within me.

I used to think I had to discover my purpose so that I could finally create the life I wanted.

Now I see it differently.

Reconnecting with my soul allows me to live as my true self. And living as my true self naturally creates a life that feels like mine.

There is no longer so much separation between who I am and the life I am living.

They are becoming one.

And maybe that is what I had been looking for all along.

Not a purpose to pursue.

Not a life to prove.

Just the freedom to return to myself—and live from there.
