Woman sitting outdoors smiling and feeling like herself again.

Feeling Like Myself Again

Today, I looked at myself and smiled.

Not because something remarkable happened.

Nothing around me had suddenly changed. There was no great announcement. No particular reason to believe that today would be different from any other day.

But I felt good.

I felt like myself.

And there is something beautiful about recognizing yourself again.

Sometimes, the most meaningful moments don’t arrive with anything dramatic attached to them. They simply appear in the middle of an ordinary day.

You notice yourself smiling.

You notice that you’re relaxed.

You notice that you’re no longer trying so hard to figure everything out.

And you realize that something inside you has become quiet.

I Had Not Lost Myself

I have always known myself.

Even when I have questioned things, even when I have become uncertain, even when life has taken me somewhere I did not expect to go, there has always been something in me that remained.

I think I had simply become distracted from it.

I spent too much time looking at what was happening around me. I looked at what had happened, what had not happened, what I thought should have happened, and what might happen next.

I wanted life to give me some indication that I was okay.

I wanted circumstances to settle something inside me.

And somewhere along the way, I forgot that I could simply be here.

Coming Back to the Present

So today, I am here.

I am sitting in my own life.

I am looking at myself without asking whether I am where I thought I would be by now.

Without measuring this moment against another moment.

Without needing today to become something more than it is.

There is a softness in that.

I can feel it.

It feels good to get dressed simply because I want to. It feels good to sit quietly. It feels good to notice the light, the warmth, the little things that would be easy to overlook when the mind is busy trying to figure everything out.

It feels good to take a picture and see myself smiling.

Not a smile meant to convince anyone of anything.

Just my smile.

Just me.

I Missed This Woman

I realize that I have missed this version of myself.

The woman who does not need to rush.

The woman who can enjoy an ordinary day.

The woman who can be happy without needing a reason that makes sense to anyone else.

The woman who can sit in her own company and not feel that something is missing.

Maybe nothing was missing.

Maybe I was simply looking too far away.

There is something deeply comforting about realizing that.

I don’t need to go somewhere else to find myself.

I don’t need to become someone else.

I don’t need to wait for life to change before I allow myself to enjoy being alive.

When You Stop Looking Outside Yourself

There is a kind of peace that comes when you stop asking the outside world to tell you who you are.

You become quieter.

You notice yourself again.

You begin to hear the things you already knew.

And you realize that you do not have to chase yourself down.

You only have to stop leaving yourself behind.

Maybe that is what returning to yourself really is.

Not becoming someone new.

Not creating a better version.

Just becoming present enough to recognize the woman who has been there all along.

I Don’t Need to Make This Moment Mean More

Today, I don’t want to make this moment bigger than it is.

I don’t need to turn it into a lesson.

I don’t need to decide what it means for tomorrow.

I just want to enjoy it.

I want to enjoy being a woman who is alive today.

A woman who can laugh.

A woman who can get dressed and feel beautiful.

A woman who can sit in the sunlight and let herself be seen.

A woman who can look at her own life and say,

Yes. This is mine.

I Am Allowed to Enjoy My Life

I don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

And, for once, I don’t feel the need to know.

Today is here.

I am here.

And I feel alive in it.

There is no performance in that.

There is no striving.

There is simply the quiet pleasure of being present for my own life.

I think I understand something now.

I don’t have to wait until everything makes sense to enjoy myself.

I don’t have to wait until life looks the way I imagined it would.

I don’t have to become someone else before I am allowed to feel good again.

I can simply choose this moment.

I can experience it.

I can remain steady inside it.

I can allow myself to be happy.

And today, I am.

Myself Again

Today, I looked at myself and recognized the woman looking back at me.

And I smiled.

There was nothing I needed to fix.

Nothing I needed to prove.

Nothing I needed to explain.

I was simply happy to see her.

Happy to be her.

Happy to be here.

It’s a great day to be alive.
