There is something powerful about the words you speak over your own life.
Think about it. How often do you wait for someone else to tell you that you’re doing well? That you’re capable? That you’re wonderful? That everything is going to work out?
How often do you look at your circumstances for confirmation before allowing yourself to believe something beautiful about your life?
I’ve been thinking about this differently.
What if you stopped waiting for someone else to speak those words over you and became the first person to declare good things about yourself?
You are your own prophet. Prophesy over yourself.
The Power of Speaking Over Your Own Life
I love this thought because it reminds me that I don’t have to wait for someone else to recognize the goodness in me or speak it into my life.
I can be intentional about the words I give myself. And I can choose to speak well of myself, my circumstances, and my future.
When I actually do that, I can feel the confidence and the power I have within me.
And I want you to consider doing the same.
Think about the conversations you have with yourself throughout the day. Your inner dialogue is always there, whether you’re consciously paying attention to it or not.
Your subconscious mind is continually receiving the thoughts and words you entertain.
So, what are you saying to yourself?
Are you constantly reminding yourself of what you lack, what hasn’t happened, or what you haven’t accomplished? Are you rehearsing things you don’t want to experience?
Or are you giving yourself words that encourage, elevate, and remind you of the goodness you believe is possible?
Your words matter.
And perhaps it’s time to become more intentional about them.
How to Prophecy Over Yourself
When you speak over your life, I want you to try something. Instead of saying “I am wonderful,” say “You are wonderful.”
Instead of “I am wise,” say “You are wise.”
Speak directly to yourself as “You are”
There is something beautiful about addressing yourself this way. You are speaking to your own soul, reminding yourself of what you have chosen to believe.
Affirm the desires you would like to be, see and/or have.
And when you speak to yourself that way, it becomes easier to believe in what you are hearing, instead because it’s harder to believe your own voice when you’ve been listening to so many other voices.
The powerful thing is you’re not simply repeating words; you’re becoming intentional about the message you give your inner world.
Your subconscious mind is always listening. Consider the words you allow it to receive.
And I love the idea of treating that inner conversation as a conversation with a dear friend.
Think about how you speak to someone you love. You are careful with the words you offer. You would give them kind words. Probably encourage them and remind them of their goodness when they forget. You speak to her with consideration, patience, and love.
Why shouldn’t you extend that same kindness to yourself?
You deserve to hear beautiful things from yourself, too.
Don’t Wait for External Affirmation
You don’t need someone else to tell you that you’re wonderful before you can believe it. You don’t need the world to agree with what you have come to recognize about yourself.
Don’t wait for external affirmation.
You are your own prophet. Prophesy over yourself.
Therefore, I encourage you to speak life over your circumstances. Speak lovingly about who you are and what is possible for you.
Declare that you are wise. That you are provided for. That you are blessed. And that you are capable of experiencing a beautiful life.
Don’t wait until you see the evidence to speak those words. And definitely, not until someone else recognizes them. Don’t wait until your circumstances give you permission to believe.
Your words don’t have to agree with everything you see.
This is where faith becomes personal.
You are choosing what to give your attention to, what to accept as true, and what kind of inner conversation you want to live with.
Of course, there will be moments when what you see doesn’t reflect what you believe. But you don’t have to make every passing circumstance your confession.
You can remain faithful to the good you have accepted within.
Give Yourself a Different Conversation
Perhaps one of the most loving things you can do for yourself is to stop speaking against the very life you desire to experience.
Don’t make yourself the subject of your own criticism. Don’t keep rehearsing what is wrong, what is missing, or what might go wrong.
Give yourself a different conversation.
Remind yourself that you are wonderful. Speak to your soul with kindness.
Let your inner world become a place of encouragement, possibility, faith, and peace.
Often, we wait on others to tell us about ourselves, but why wait? You don’t need an audience to affirm your words. You don’t need anyone to repeat them back to you.
Believe what you are saying.
Why should you be the last person to believe in the goodness of your own life?
Your soul knows the way.
Give it words that remind it of the goodness you are willing to believe in.
So today, prophesy over yourself. Offer yourself kind words. Elevating words. Uplifting words.
In fact, you are to speak as though the woman listening within you deserves to hear every beautiful word.
Because she does.
Also, rememmber today is a marvelous day. And so are you.
