A personal reflection on faith, prayer, and trusting what you believe when life feels uncertain. Sometimes, ordinary moments remind us to keep the faith.

A Little Reminder to Keep the Faith

Yesterday, I was feeling a bit down emotionally. I woke up with a massive headache, and for some odd reason, it would not go away.

Throughout the day, it kept getting worse, even after I took some medication, which I normally don’t do because I like to pray and allow it to go away on its own.

Then I started thinking about my circumstances and how things were not going as I expected. This made me feel even more emotional. Fear and doubt started to creep in again, but this time, I recognized what was happening and snapped out of it.

I got up and fixed myself something to eat. I felt better, and my mood lifted.

As I was preparing supper, my oldest asked me to go on our scooter ride. It’s our family evening routine to ride our scooters around the neighborhood with the kids. It was a little later than usual, but I still said yes.

Choosing Faith Over What I Saw

I opened the garage for the kids to grab their scooters. As we stepped outside, it started to rain.

My daughter said we couldn’t go anymore because it was raining. She could feel the drops coming down fast, so they started to come back inside.

I stepped into the driveway and felt the rain for myself.

My daughter said, “I don’t think the rain will stop even if you pray to God.” Because I normally do that whenever we want something done.

I told her, “If we ask, it will stop.”

So I said a little prayer.

“God, Infinite Source, thank you for stopping the rain for us so we can go on our scooter ride.”

Then my daughter started to pray too, but she stopped midway and said she didn’t really know how to pray.

I told her that praying is thanking God for what you want, believing that you have already received it. It’s not about asking for what you want, but giving thanks.

I grabbed my youngest and rolled him along on his scooter. It was still drizzling.

My daughter said, “I don’t think it’s going to stop. By the time we go around and back, we will be wet.”

She said maybe God wants to water the flowers.

I told her, “You have to have faith, believing that it’s not going to rain. Keep moving as if it’s not raining.”

So we continued our ride.

As we left the house and passed the neighbor’s, the rain stopped. We even went on our ride a little longer, and we did not get wet.

A Reminder to Keep the Faith

That experience reminded me of how I had felt earlier that day.

I have to keep the faith and keep moving as if my prayers have already been answered, even when it comes to the things that have me worried and doubtful.

It’s amazing how little, ordinary things can remind us that we are more powerful than we think.

Living by faith may not always be an easy walk in the park, especially when others are telling you something is impossible.

I could have listened to my daughter and gone back inside. But I chose differently, and that action alone reminded me that my faith is not dead. I just need to keep going.

Another thing I am learning is to listen to my own voice, too.

What About You?

Sometimes, life gives us little reminders of what we already know but forget when things get difficult.

We start looking at what’s happening around us and allow it to determine what we believe is possible.

But what if we kept our faith even when things looked uncertain? What if we continued moving forward without allowing every circumstance to change what we believe?

Think about the things that have been worrying you lately. Have you allowed what you see to become greater than what you believe?

Sometimes, all we need to do is recognize when fear and doubt are creeping in and return to what we know within.

Keep the faith. Keep moving. And remember that you don’t always have to see the answer before you can believe.
